10. Basic Rocket Science (Season 2 Episode 4)

In this episode, the dean is worried that his arch rivals City College will unveil their state of the art space rocket simulator before Greendale gets a chance to unveil theirs. So, in an attempt to beat them, he enlists the gang's help to clean it up to make it media ready. Whilst cleaning, the door seals shut and all except Abed are stuck inside.

Why it sucks: Although this episode is by no means a terrible one it's distinctively average in comparison to many others. Dan Harmon talked about his writing process of putting the characters first before incorporating a parody or theme around it but in this case, somebody blatantly just wanted to do an Apollo 13 parody. Also, Jeff's whole "who cares about Greendale winning a stupid competition - this school sucks" attitude seems to change at the drop of a hat half way through the episode with no clear explanation why in a bid to speed things along.

What doesn't suck: We get the very first unveiling of the notorious Greendale "E pluribus anus" flag which actually translates to "Out of many, one." Doesn't change the fact the flag looks like a butthole though.
