6. 13 Reasons Why (Season 2)

Love it, hate it or fall somewhere in the middle, 13 Reasons Why's first season was boldly provocative television that asked difficult questions and started a compelling dialogue among teenagers and adults alike.

However, with the first season adapting Jay Asher's book, season two was forced to go off-piste and continue the story on its own, resulting in a painfully bloated batch of 13 episodes.

From the excessive courtroom drama to the blatant Flanderisation of several characters and an over-indulgence in cornball melodrama, this just felt like a perfunctory, money-grabbing post-script to a decidedly more cohesive and engaging first season.

The season as a whole is summed up by the contrived and needlessly over-the-top broom-sodomy of Tyler (Devin Druid) in the finale, which just feels too far removed from the genuinely affecting drama of the first season.

The fact this is coming back for a third go-around is, honestly, pretty damn worrying.
