Just before the finale of Season three came out, it was announced that Lost would end in its 6th series; which left a lot of people asking How are they going to give this direction? The pace to continue to an ending of God only knows what? Then the finale to Season three happened, and whilst the on island story was brilliant, off to contact the freighter that would get them off of the island whilst they go to war with the others, the real thing which made this episode so brilliant was the flashbacks...Or should I say flashforwards. The combining narrative of them appearing to find a way off the island and Jack, the least likely character to want to ever go back to that island, desperately trying to find a way back to that place raises so many questions. What happens off the island? Who is on that boat? What has made Jack want to go back? Then theres Charlies death...His moment of sacrifice and completion of destiny is one of the most iconic moments in the shows history. Why did he close the door? Because he was supposed to.
