Throughout the broadcast years of Doctor Who, the adventures of The Doctor and his companions have been streamed live upon the television screen, brought to life through prose, comic strips and audios and even through several stage plays that may or may not feature singing Doctors, dancing Daleks, and tap-dancing companions... (Spoilers: They don't. Damn). Despite constant arguments as to their canonicity and quality, everyone accepts them as part of the wider Doctor Who universe and an invaluable source of information regarding the futures (and the pasts) of the Doctor's friends and companions. The Big Finish productions, for example, have several audio dramas exploring the untold stories of companions, including Gallifrey (featuring Romana III, Leela, and Ace), Countermeasures, Bernice Summerfield, Charley Pollard and so on, so forth. While enthralling and likely to appeal, television-only viewers, or fans who are only aware of the revived series, may not realise the amount of material that Doctor Who universe has to offer. With the plethora of media platforms - books, audio dramas, even animated reconstructions and minisodes - it seems all that the writers need is inspiration. As such, here are 10 ideas for a Doctor Who spin-off that would interest, enthral and pass the time during the long, long months between seasons.
