The Walking Dead is a series that deals in death, shocks, gore, death, violence, and more death.
Over the course of its seven years (and counting) it's left viewers in various states of surprise, outrage, frustration, and sadness.
Based on Robert Kirkman's equally brutal graphic novels, airing on cable, and with almost 100 episodes under its belt, there's no surprise that within its time on air it's attracted a lot of controversy, and made a fair share of mistakes.
Some are just silly little goofs, like an extra feeling thirsty at a rather inappropriate time, or cars somehow appearing before their time, but others - whether it's directly their fault or not - AMC would really rather you didn't remember.
11. Shootings
The Walking Dead is an extremely violent show, and unfortunately that has spilled over into real life.
Back in 2012, Jared Gurman shot his girlfriend Jessica Gelderman after a heated argument over the series. Apparently he had a theory that a military mishap caused the virus to be released and spread, which she disagreed with. It led to a big fallout, and when she went to his apartment to smooth things over, that's when he shot her, though luckily it wasn't fatal.
In 2015, it was reported that a man in New Mexico killed his friend after drinking lots of alcohol and binge-watching The Walking Dead, convinced he was turning into a zombie. A year later there were reports that another man fatally shot his neighbour after bingeing on the show.
The series can in no way be held accountable for these atrocious events, but they nonetheless created a lot of unwanted attention and headlines they'd rather forget about.
