8. 'Killing' Rick/The Deer
Say Yes was actually one of the more enjoyable episodes of Season 7, all things considered. It was mostly a fun little romp with Rick and Michonne, and the setting allowed for all the fun of the fair.
However, one sequence brought with it two middle fingers straight up for the price of one.
It begins with Rick atop the Ferris Wheel, whereupon he sees a deer down on the ground. Not just any deer, but the worst, most half-assed attempt at a CGI animal you're ever likely to see, as if they'd forgotten about it until the very last minute and then got the intern to quickly Photoshop it in. The Walking Dead has a rocky relationship with CG anyway, but this is by far the worst, and they clearly didn't care.
As if that wasn't bad enough, we then have Rick on the ground, surrounded by walkers who are feasting upon his flesh. Except of course they're not, because this is Rick's show. Proving they don't learn from the mistakes, it's another fakeout moment where the writers try and trick viewers - with the purpose being to trick Michonne and show how much she cares - and Rick's emergence from the box he managed to hide in isn't some great relief, it's just an insult.
