Dear White People was a critical hit and indie darling when it was released back in 2014, and now Netflix are hoping to open it up to a much wider audience by turning the movie into a TV show.
The 10-episode series comes from Justin Simien, who wrote and directed the movie as well, while most of the cast will be returning too.
Set at an Ivy League school, we follow a group of college students attempting to navigate life on campus amidst racial tensions. With a mix of irony, absurdity, and honesty, the show will aim to hold up a mirror to real life societal and racial issues, all while being utterly hilarious.
The teaser trailer gained some controversy, being dubbed 'anti-white', which rather misses the point of the satire.
