8. Officer Barbrady Is Just The Town Idiot Pretending To Be A Police Officer (And Everyone Knows It)
Officer Barbrady is like combining the incompetence of Chief Wiggum with the intelligence level of Forrest Gump. Put it simply, Barbrady is a terrible police officer who does poorly in his job and couldn't read until he was an adult. As it turns out, maybe Barbrady isn't really a police officer at all. A theory on Reddit suggests that Barbrady is actually the equivalent of the town idiot in South Park but the town feels bad for him so everyone lets him play police officer. There are little pieces of evidence that reinforce this theory such as his misshapen badge, no one taking him seriously, and him operating by himself and from a tiny building. As for when actual crimes happen and Barbrady happens to be around, well this is explained by him always saying 'Move along, nothing to see here' because that was what he was taught to say at a crime scene until the real police shows up. If this really is the case, maybe that explains how Chief Wiggum got to keep his 'job' after all these years?
