Reign was a prophesized figure, foretold by a rogue Kryptonian religion. Their deity was the direct opposite of the more commonly worshipped figure in Krypton, Rao. Shunned by the rest of the planet and forced to practice their religion in secrecy, these worshipers formed their own community and began preparing for the arrival of their own messianic figure. Only this one would eradicate all those who refused to join them.

When Krypton was destroyed, they managed to save this chosen one and sent her into space, much like the Super Cousins. And just like Kara and Kal, she too landed on earth. After spending her entire youth and early adulthood as Sam Arias, her matriarchs, the Witches reached out to her and triggered the transformation into Reign.

Reign boasted the full Kryptonian arsenal of superpowers, from flight to super strength. At full force, she absolutely wiped the floor with Supergirl, leaving her an inch from death.
