12. Ross' Bachelor Party Balloons Are Inflated Condoms
Friends creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman have talked extensively about the struggles they had to get more adult material into the show, given that network NBC wanted to keep it as "family-friendly" as possible.
Words such as "condom" and "nipple" were apparently ordered to be scrubbed from scripts, and even when condoms were featured, they had to be kept in their box with the foil wrapping not visible.
But they found a cute way to get around this restriction in the season four episode "The One with the Worst Best Man Ever," where Joey (Matt LeBlanc) undertakes Best Man duties for Ross (David Schwimmer).
Though it's easily missed, the "balloons" Joey uses to decorate the apartment are in fact inflated condoms. Talk about a creative - and hilariously vindictive - way to get around network content restrictions.
