Though it might be difficult to believe now that she's such a noted fashion and style icon, but as a teenager Christina was a goth, even going so far as dying her hair numerous colours and wearing black lipstick. Of the style choice, she said, "People literally spit on me. I was a Goth girl, and in preppy Fairfax County, that did not go over very well...I dyed my hair about 42 different colours, shaved it at the back and wore black make-up...My mother was mortified and kept telling me how horrible and ugly I looked, and strangers would walk by with a look of shock on their face." If the above image of Hendricks during her goth phase (though not yet committed to the hair and lipstick choices it seems) is any indication, she was still an attractive young woman, and those who spit on her were missing out big time.
