When Prison Break first aired on August 29, 2005, Fox had introduced a breathtaking new show like nothing that had gone before. Such a simple premise of a brother determined to jettison his wrongly-accused sibling from death row captivated TV audiences and produced a show that generated four seasons and 81 episodes in all. Although seasons one and two were brilliant and innovative, seasons three and four flattered to deceive in some ways - but that should take nothing away from the success of Prison Break. The show cast light on conditions in high-security prisons and showed how America's most-feared inmates lead their lives - while also retaining viewers' attention with eye-catching action scenes. Following on from hit series Lost and 24, Prison Break brought in an average 9.2 and 9.3million viewers for its first two seasons on Fox - highlighting how popular it was a decade ago.
