How I Met Your Mother has done quite a remarkable thing. It has established the titled plot line and then managed to get through an unending raft of episodes without actually explaining that story. It is by far one of TV's best kept secrets. There has been mass hype over the reveal of the actress who is pegged as playing 'the mother', but the actual meeting has yet to be shown. 2014 marks the start of the countdown to the show's final episode. It's drawing ever closer to that climactic meeting. I can't help but wonder whether the final explanation will actually do the show justice.
