So, yeah, it's a bit like Lord of the Rings, only with loads of sex and violence. It's this big fantasy epic, set in medieval times, somewhat based on the War of the Roses. There's all these different houses, and they all want power and to sit on a throne that's literally made out of swords, but the bigger picture is the battle between dragons and these things called White Walkers, which are kinda like magical zombie dudes made out of ice and are almost impossible to kill. Also there's incest and a witch gave birth to a shadow with a face and pretty much everyone in it dies. It's not easy trying to explain Game of Thrones to someone who hasn't watched it - no, it's not just boobs! - but it invariably involves some twist on at least one of those sentences above, and will leave the person you're talking to feeling slightly bemused. But seriously, if you don't watch Game of Thrones, then a) you're really missing out, because it's worth the hype and then some, and b) you'll have no idea what any of this article is talking about.
