8. Twin Peaks: The Return

Few viewers trusted that king of weirdness/ Mulholland Drive helmer David Lynch would follow through with his enigmatic promise that the denizens of Twin Peaks would “see you in twenty five years”, but anyone who knew how strange and demented the director’s vision is held a hope in their heart that we hadn’t seen the last of Kyle MacLachan’s iconic Agent Cooper.

And indeed Lynch made good on his promise, with the series returning in 2017 for an eighteen hour season on American cable network Showtime.

And what a season it was, an impossible to decipher nightmare of layered imagery, surreal and strange characters and occurrences, and as much terrifying unexplained eeriness and bizarrely comic oddness as ever.
