15 Important Life Lessons We Learned From South Park

11. Respect Other Religions No Matter What They Believe...

Given the way the show mocks religion, with Parker and Stone even creating an award-winning musical satirizing faith, you€™d think that they have no respect for anyone. In fact, they give room for thought for everyone, no matter how ridiculous their context is. See All About Mormons. As Stan learns about the Mormon faith, a recent American religion characterized by clean living, good values, family values and polygamy, we€™re treated to flashbacks to how the Book of Mormon may have been written according to the scripture. Just to ram home the ridiculousness, over the top of the scenes the soundtrack repeats: €œdum dum dum dum dum.€ If that isn€™t mocking the convenient and contrived way the religion was formed (as it€™s made clear Parker and Stone think Mormonism was made up on the spot) then we don€™t know what it€™s saying. However, despite the religion€™s formation occurring under such suspicious circumstances, there€™s nothing wrong with the way the people are living. If you€™re a good person, it shouldn€™t matter where your faith is placed.
