What Is It
A young rapper decides to run for Mayor in order to give his music career a much-needed publicity boost, only for it to completely backfire when he unexpectedly wins the election.
Reasons To Be Excited
This looks like a show that will very much be driven by its characters, who are immediately incredibly likeable. Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) is the kind of guy you want to root for straight away, and looks like giving a real winning performance here, while Lea Michele and Yvette Cooper Brown provide (as you might expect) strong support. It's an interesting fusion of rap and politics (with Hamilton's Daveed Diggs exec producing!), with a fish-out-of-water element mixed in, and looks like being one of ABC's strongest new fall shows.
