Summer is coming.

The time of sunshine, of bees buzzing and dandelion fuzz and burning sand, and all those other things Olaf sang about is upon us at last. Get ready for beaches, barbecues, and beer gardens...

Nah, let's just stay in and watch TV, eh?

Once upon a time, summer was the desolate wasteland of the TV schedule. Fall is the most important time for the traditional networks, as they begin their nine-month dominance of the television landscape with your favourite sitcoms and long-running dramas. Spring, meanwhile, is the typical home of prestige TV, where view counts matter less than Emmy nominations. Summer was the destination of reality TV and reruns.

Not anymore, though. Summer is now a major player in the TV game, evidenced by recent years and certainly this one, given it has the biggest TV show in the world. With major shows returning and exciting new ones making their debut, it's definitely better to stay indoors during summertime. Time to sit back and unwind.

15. Claws

TNT

TNT don't yet have a great reputation for their own original programming, but that is starting to change. Animal Kingdom debuted last year to positive reviews, and there's a fair bit of hype building around their latest effort, Claws.

The series is centred around a group of manicurists in Florida, led by Niecy Nash (Getting On, Reno 911) and Carrie Preston (True Blood, The Good Wife). Of course, there's more to it than that, as the salon becomes the front for a money laundering operation. Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) will make the leap to the other side of the law, playing one of the criminals at the heart of the operation, and Deadpool 2 villain Jack Kesy will also star. Rashida Jones, meanwhile, will serve as executive producer.

It looks like a lot of ridiculous, campy and darkly comic fun, and has the kind of cast to help make the premise work.

Premiere Date: June 11
