Beginning its run with a feature film in 2008, The Clone Wars went on to have seven incredibly successful seasons, the last of which came to an end earlier this year.

Bridging the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the show finally gave fans the opportunity to see the infamous Clone Wars in full swing, and allowed characters both old and new to shine a light on the more detailed aspects of life before the rise of the Empire.

The joy of The Clone Wars is its attention to detail and how beautifully it builds upon the stories of characters such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and the titular clones. Every season is bursting with ingenious moments of fan service, foreshadowing things to come and reminding audiences that no matter what, the show will not have a particularly happy ending.

The following list will have a look at 15 such instances of fan services and blink-and-you'll-miss-it references, the kind of things you may have missed first time around. Major spoilers for The Clone Wars, Rebels and the Skywalker Saga follow.

15. The Repeated Codenames

In Star Wars Rebels, Anakin's former padawan Ahsoka Tano is revealed to have not only survived the Jedi Purge, but joined the Rebel Alliance as one of its earliest members. In her new position, the former Jedi is known by the codename "Fulcrum" and is seen helping the Alliance in their fight against the Empire.

But this is not the first time the codename has been used in the franchise, as in season seven of The Clone Wars, Anakin and Obi-Wan are contacted using the name by Ahsoka. Before this, the alias was used by freedom fighter Saw Gerrera, in order to avoid Separatist interference.

This isn't the only clever alias the show drops, however. During his time undercover as a bounty hunter, Obi-Wan used the name "Ben" when contacting the Jedi Council about his mission, a nice little reference to the name he would later adopt when exiled on Tatooine.
