2. Rick And Morty Bury Themselves

This is the exact moment Rick and Morty went from being a really good show to being a masterpiece.

Rick Potion #9 is a pretty fun episode where Morty's desire to get Jessica to like him spirals out of control and leads to a massive outbreak of preying mantis-people. The stakes are higher than they've ever been, and by the end basically the entire world has been destroyed and taken over by these creatures.

In any other show, Rick would come up with some last minute solution that allows them to turn everyone back and everything would reset to normal. But here, Rick's got nothing. The world is destroyed and there's nothing they can do. So instead, they just jump into a different dimension where their other selves happened to die around this time, and so the old Rick and Morty take over for their dead selves.

It's one of the darkest endings to anything ever, brutally killing the two main characters right in front of the audience. The episode doesn't shy away from how much this would mess them up, and Morty is completely devastated and has no idea how to move on. The episode doesn't end on any jokes; it's just a shot of Morty's shocked expression staring into the distance. Cut to credits.
