12. The Kitchen Explosion - Legion

Legion's very first episode set the tone perfectly with its surreal, jolting visual style, exemplified by the instantly iconic exploding kitchen scene, in which David (Dan Stevens) loses control from stress, causing his kitchen's contents to violently explode outward and swirl around him.

It cements both how powerful David is and how he struggles to control said power, but from a stylistic perspective it also looks gorgeous for the standards of a TV show, and is all the more impressive considering it was largely achieved practically (with Stevens being green-screened into the practical explosion for safety's sake).

No doubt many paused the sequence simply to try and figure out if the exploding elements were indeed digital or not.
