There was some pretty weak material in recent seasons, but the season 8 premiere was a very different approach, and a breath of fresh air for Family Guy. The "Road to..." episodes have always contained plenty of laughs due to the chemistry between Stewie and Brian, and this was no different. There are plenty of pop culture jokes, many referencing Walt Disney, and it's a thoroughly enjoyable episode that you can't help but laugh at. The two Griffins transport from reality to reality, including one where the roles of dogs and humans are delightfully reversed, and there's plenty of good characterisation and some nice nods to long time fans of the show who will know how Brian feels about the treatment of dogs.
