Coming from the mind of controversial Community creator Dan Harmon, this Adult Swim series may rub some fans up the wrong way with its fairly routine “Adventure of the Week” format, but despite some static characterisation the show has managed to provide consistently huge anarchic laughs throughout its four seasons and occasional moments of real pathos.
The emotional depth may be overstated by some superfans—Bojack Horseman the show is not—but the zany and often cleverly subversive approach to both sci fi and sitcom clichés, as well as the reliably hilarious supporting cast and often ambitious world-building, makes this one an unmissable adult animated comedy nonetheless.
