So, this show is sort of what happens when you combine the traditional superhero show with the procedural cop/detective drama that has been flooding our airwaves for the past twenty years or so. Essentially, Alphas is about a group of people with superhuman abilities, who all work for a branch of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, where they help track down other "Alphas" who are using their abilities for nefarious purposes. They have a wide range of powers, which is appealing as they're different from what we normally see from superheroes. There's no flying, no super strength, no invisible jets. You've got a guy who can see electromagnetic waves, a girl who can amplify any one of her senses, a girl with super power of persuasion, things like that. But what's really interesting about the show is that you also see the crippling side effects of these powers, which gives them an added sense of humanity.
