He-Man and Skeletor, the original Ambiguously Gay Duo. Complete with a resplendent blond page boy haircut and rippling muscles that would put Arnold Schwarzenegger to shame, He-Man was an icon of mid-1980s cartoon television. Unlike many other superheroes, whose humble origins are frequently a key point in their characterization, He-Man is actually a prince named Adam, who accesses his powers by brandishing a sword and invoking the name of Greyskull. Originally designed as an action figure line meant to capitalize on the success of Star Wars, He-Man (and its spinoff, She-Ra) captured the minds of kids everywhere, and have been seen in a number of different types of media over the past thirty years. It's easy to make fun of him now, with the S+M costume and everything that goes along with it, but he is nonetheless a beloved superhero who shouldn't be overlooked.
