10. Big Love

While it took a little while to get going and didn't end as strongly as it would have liked, Big Love's middle seasons were something special. Doing away with its eccentricities and becoming a more grounded family drama worked wonders as the show went from strength to strength with its well written characters and infinitively amusing concept.

Bill Paxton too, was given time to shine as the lead as he is usually relegated to supporting roles in blockbuster movies.
