Theres been more references in Futurama to Groenings yellow people than he originally intended (the crew didn't want to piggyback on the yellow people's success), although that's not too surprising given the show never really stuck to it's own rules (Fry longing for Leela, being cancelled) too strictly.In a way thats not a bad thing; its helped created one of the most interesting entries on this list.
Aside from Blinky the three-eyed fish in Space Pilot 3000, all references to The Simpsons have treated themas a TV show - theres Bart Simpson toys, season guides and even mentions of the movie - meaning that to Fry and co. The Simpsons are as real as they are to us. It's a pretty cool in joke that many fans seem to overlook.
