When Chris Carter approached American composer Mark Snow about creating an iconic and eerie theme tune to the snow, he handed him a copy of The Smiths' 1985 neo-psycadelia anthem How Soon Is Now. Hoping that inspiration would come from the now famous echoing guitar hook laid down by Johnny Marr, Snow instead latched on to Morrisey's small whistling part and sculpted it into core theme.
