Charles Logan is one of the most brilliantly detestable characters in the history of 24: he started out as an inconsistent, flaky President, and as his evil side came out, he drew some very apt comparisons to Richard Nixon, with actor Gregory Itzin completely nailing the guy's mannerisms and personality, intentionally or not. In the eighth season, Logan re-appeared, this time trying to cover up evidence that the Russians were involved in President Hassan's death. Despite Logan's attempts to manipulate President Taylor into having Jack Bauer killed, she reneges on this at the last minute, completely foiling Logan's self-interested plan, and leaving him without a lifeboat to cling to. As a result, Logan shoots himself in the head, though in the most hilariously ironic form of poetic justice in the show's history, Logan survives, with a medic remarking that he will be permanently brain-damaged.
