22. Fox Offered Kiefer Sutherland Just $1 Million To Star In A 24 Movie
It sounds like a slam dunk and should be the easiest thing ever, to get a 24 movie made, right? It was set to start shooting in the spring of 2012, but when Fox insisted on a low $30 million budget and offered Sutherland just $1 million to star, disagreements caused the plug to be pulled. Fox claim they offered him up to $2 million in the end, but Sutherland, being pretty much the sole reason for the show's continued success, quite reasonably demanded no less than $5 million. Considering that Sutherland was paid $40 million for three seasons in 2006 (that's over half a million dollars per episode), it seems pretty cheeky that Fox would offer him only the equivalent of two-to-four episodes' pay for a decidedly more challenging and time-consuming movie shoot.
