25. Mariah Kills Cottonmouth - Luke Cage

It seemed like slick gangster Cornell Stokes, aka Cottonmouth (played by Mahershala Ali), was going to be sticking around for a while, but in Marvel's hit Netflix superhero show, he ends up meeting a brutal end following an argument with his cousin Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodward).

She smashes him in the head with a bottle and pushes him out of his office window, at which point she then bludgeons him to death with a microphone stand in the show's grimmest scene to date.

It was an extremely effective and shocking scene which, while not at all gory, cemented just how much of a threat Dillard can be, both as a politician and most unexpectedly on a physical level.
