25 Greatest Characters Across The Entire Whedonverse

1. Willow

Appeared in: Buffy the Vampire Slayer She started out as the dorky best friend, the girl you didn't expect a pretty blonde to hang around unless she wanted to look better in comparison. Later on, she struggled with heartbreak, and then with her own sexuality. She turned to the dark side for a while, before the love of a friend brought her back. In the end, Willow Rosenberg became a confident, powerful, and take-control character who was realistically more powerful than the namesake of the show she was on. No longer just second fiddle to Buffy, Willow was a power in her own right. We loved her all along, and while in later seasons you always sort of missed sweet, shy, awkward Willow, Alyson Hannigan's portrayal of the character was just so good that you never for a second forgot that it was Willow - not even when she was trying to kill her friends.
