Despite having left the show after the fourth series, Sorkin did return to make a cameo appearance in the final-ever episode "Tomorrow".

Sorkin can be seen for a split second standing in the crowd as the new President, Matt Santos, is inaugurated in Washington DC.

Sorkin co-wrote 85 of the first 88 episodes of the drama he had created, but he left following a dispute with NBC.
