15. The Terror

Who: Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, Ciaran Hinds

What: Based on the novel by Dan Simmons, which serves as a fictionalised account of Captain Franklin's lost expedition to the Arctic. Here, they're stalked across the Arctic by a monster.

Why: It sounds and looks suitably creepy and atmospheric, and there's plenty here that's ripe for good drama: monsters, mutiny, starvation and cannibalism. The Arctic setting is a bit of an untapped resource on TV, offering something different to most shows and a great location for a moody horror to unfold. And that cast is pretty darn impressive as well.
