Who? Matthew Weiner (creator); Christina Hendricks, Aaron Eckhart, Isabelle Huppert, Jack Huston, Diane Lane, Paul Reiser, John Slatterly.
What? An anthology series set around the globe, focusing on a number of different people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family, inspired by the real-life Romanov imposters.
Why? Every episode features a different cast and story, linked by the Romanov connection, which means things can be kept fresh and offers the chance to play around with tone, genre, and setting. There's a great roster of actors involved too, and of course the allure of Weiner's first post-Mad Men project. It remains to be seen whether allegations will impact it, but otherwise this looks likely to be a big hit for Amazon.
