19. The Romanoffs

The Romanoffs, in production at Amazon, is an anthology series set around the globe, focusing on a number of different people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family, inspired by the real-life Romanov imposters.

With each episode featuring a different story, cast, and setting - linked by the Romanov connection - there's a real chance for the series to play around with different genres and tones.

It also marks Matthew Weiner's first series since the end of Mad Men, which was one of the Golden Age's finest, and the impressive cast includes Christina Hendricks, Isabelle Huppert, Jack Huston, Diane Lane, Paul Reiser, and John Slatterly.
