4 TV Shows That May Have Missed Your Radar

2. Rectify

Network: Sundance Channel Status: Second season premieres in 2014 A lot of people have never heard of the Sundance Channel, so it€™s not surprising they haven€™t heard of Rectify. I heard of it because Aaron Paul tweeted about it, and I gave it a go. Rectify is a southern-gothic story of Daniel, a Georgia man who is released from 19 years on death row when new evidence vacates his trial after being charged for the rape and murder of his girlfriend. Aden Young€™s haunting and subtle performance of Daniel is matched by Abigail Spencer€™s Amantha, his loyal and fiery younger sister. Tensions arise with hostile townsfolk, strained familial interactions, and the presumption of innocence and guilt. Ray McKinnon and his writers hold a mirror up and challenge our ideas of perception. The show is a slow burner that allows the characters and small town of Paulie unravel in one of the most realistic shows I€™ve seen since Six Feet Under. It takes a certain viewer to appreciate the pacing, ambiance, and style that Rectify provides, but until you watch the first episode, don€™t write this one off.
