4 Ups & 1 Down From Doctor Who Series 12 - Praxeus

Snap, Gravel, 'n' Pop.

After last week's canon-bending episode, would things be settling down as we were flung head-first into Praxeus? Short answer, no. A deadly alien virus is wreaking havoc across the Earth, and it's a race against time to save not only a missing astronaut, but the entirety of humanity from guaranteed extinction.

We're headed toward the final straight of Series 12, and here's to hoping the Doctor and co's adventures stay to the level of quality we've seen throughout (apart from Orphan 55, of course). So does this episode continue the solid presentation of last week's episode? Does The Doctor save the world in time? Do we see any more from the multitude of arcs pointing toward the two-part season finale? Only time will tell...

As always, we begin with thankfully, only a single down.

1. Yet Another Eco-Friendly Message

BBC

Don't get me wrong, this week's moral lesson is yet another good one, similar to Orphan 55's. The whole reason the threat of the week existed was because of our overuse of plastics, which pollute our entire ecosystem. Of course, this was a prod toward the viewer to be wary of their plastic usage.

However, what sets Praxeus apart from Orphan 55 is that this message was better woven into the narrative, whereas Orphan 55's was slapped on the side with very little nuance or thought. As a standalone episode, this down would be all but negated. However, since we've had two eco-based messages in one series, the first, less subtle implementation has unforunately tainted the second.
