4 Ups & 1 Down From Doctor Who Series 12 - Praxeus

Ups!

4. The Companion Dynamic Has Found A (Temporary) Solution

A recurring theme of Chibnall era Who is that our three companions rarely seem to get their screen time and relevance balance right. The only way this has worked in the past is if our companions split up, which is why their dynamic worked in Spyfall Part 1, and again in Praxeus. To begin with, Yaz and Graham were together in Hong Kong, Ryan was flying solo in Peru, whilst The Doctor did her thing in Madagascar.

Even once their initial missions were complete, they stayed relatively separate until the final act, with Graham, Ryan, and The Doctor back together in Madagascar, while Yaz continued to gallivant around Hong Kong. It's not a formula that would continue to work in every single episode of Who, but it's a nice change to usually rather dull characters.

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
