5 Actors Who Hated Working On Game Of Thrones
5. Jonathan Pryce - The High Sparrow
The High Sparrow was undoubtedly a memorable part of Game of Thrones. His religious zealot position in King's Landing and controlling hand over the Faith Militant made him a constant source of anger, pain and punishment for the characters.
It takes a lot to get people to root for Cersei against you, so Pryce undoubtedly did a good job there. But, he was not a fan of the series.
This Pirates of The Caribbean star stated to Sky News that Game of Thrones "never appealed" to him and that he'd turned them down initially. He made it clear that he wasn't a fan of blockbuster fantasy projects, which made him feel uninterested in the show.
Supposedly, this changed when he was offered the interesting role of The High Sparrow, which contrasted the King Lear performance he was in at the time.
The role might have been intriguing, but there was a disconnect for Pryce, as not only did he hate the genre, but he was also incredibly surprised by the fan reactions to the High Sparrow. In an interview with new.com.au, he stated how he "hadn’t for one minute thought he was the bad guy", even seeing the character as a "saviour of that society".
With the viewers hatred of his character and his distaste for epic fantasy, it's no wonder he'd rather leave this one forgotten.
