Quentin Lance was a huge part of series one as a police sergeant that was constantly trying to catch 'the vigilante', as Oliver Queen was then known as. However, after two demotions he's now just a regular officer who's a fan of the Arrow. Unfortunately, he's not as important to the show as he previously was. His ties to Sara and Laurel have been a huge part of the story up until this point but now, with the family seemingly together again it's all happy families. Well, not quite but it's not as all bad as it previously was. The problem here is the detective's character has become rather boring. He's a fan of the Arrow, he knows Sara is the Black Canary and supports her, he supports Laurel in her addictions and he tries to fix his family. It's all rather sweet but is it really necessary? The death of Quentin could provide a major catalyst in the progression of the story, which is obviously ideal. His death would hit the characters in the show hard, which would make for some great viewing. Frankly, Quentin is of better use to the story dead rather than alive.
