5 Great TV Shows That Were Ruined By Their Finales

3. Lost

Set on a mysterious desert Island, Lost was a very complex series built on secrets and suspense. It brought in a huge audience by making its viewers believe the writers had a grand plan for what was going to happen, so they watched in the hope all the show€™s strange events (such as the polar bear hunting them through the forest) would eventually be explained. However, if you happened to be on the internet at any point during 2010 you€™ll know those answers never came, with the final episode leaving its audience confused and with tens of unanswered questions. Now finishing a show with a sense of mystery can work in some cases, but when a programme€™s only hook is the promise of answers then the technique doesn€™t really make sense. Also, considering how the series contained such dark themes as limbo and murder, the ending was a pretty soppy mess, attempting to provide a €˜happily-ever-after€™ ending that didn€™t really make sense. It undermined everything that had come before, showing that the writers never knew where they were taking the show and were in fact just making it up as they went along, resulting in one of the most controversial and disappointing climaxes of all time.
