5 Little Known Reasons Why Glee is Cooler Than You Think

By Daniel Bowen /

5. Melissa Benoist

Who the hell is Melissa Benoist, you are probably all thinking? Well, she is the very thing that might make Glee watchable again in the 4th Season for a lot people, particularly for the male audience (or girls who like girls). Even I, a gay man, have somewhat of a €œman crush€ (how does this work if you€™re gay?) on her already and she has only appeared in one episode so far, the latest episode, the first of season 4. She really is that charming€ really (She plays Marley in Season 4 of Glee by the way). Sure, her voice isn€™t as technically good as Rachel€™s, or a lot of the other cast members, but that€™s a good thing. As good as a lot of the cast are at singing (come on, admit it) sometimes their voices are so technically good, that they come off sounding annoying and a little bratty. Melissa€™s voice, whilst good enough to come off sounding great up against Rachel€™s in their duet, has a much more natural, relaxed tone to it that will probably translate well (probably even better) than Rachel€™s does on the radio or iTunes for example.Plus€ here is the little known fact about one of the latest cast members€ she once appeared completely topless€ in fact, almost completely naked in an episode of HOMELAND. Yes, HOMELAND, the best new show of last year (The other best new show of last year was American Horror Story€ and guess what, Glee and AMH were created by exactly the same people). Jacob Artist, the new kid who plays Pucks younger brother, also has a stellar voice if I€™ve convinced you to at least give Glee another try. Come on, it€™s only 40 minutes long and the sickening sweetness of it all can easily be washed down by watching an episode of pretty much any other drama on TV. But don€™t you find hour long TV episodes currently so very very dramatic and intense (still great though) that a little bit of Glee is maybe even good for your TV diet. Maybe it will even make you appreciate good tv drama€™s more. Come on people, seriously€ tell me why myself (and Joss Whedon) and all the millions of people that still watch Glee but pretend that they don€™t are wrong? Please€
