5 Things We've Learned From The Cobra Kai Season 3 Trailer

The Karate Kids carry on.

By Early Ray Mixon /

it's been a long time since Season 2 of Cobra Kai ended on that gut wrenching cliffhanger - and thanks to Youtube's decision to quit making original content, fans who expected the third season early this year have endured an incredibly long wait for even a clue about what will happen to everyone's favourite karate kids. For much of the year the fate of the show has been as uncertain as that of its main characters.

But at long last the series has found its new home on Netflix, and the fans of the series have grown exponentially. Yet there was still no word on when the already filmed season would premier, and barely few frames of teaser from it. Now a real trailer for Season 3 has finally dropped, giving us the premier date of January 8th, and naturally there is a whole lot to unpack.

And fans have all too happily poured over this to ascertain everything they can. Surprisingly, there are actually more than a few bread crumbs left to give us hints about what will happen going forward.

Here are some things we've learned from watching the new Cobra Kai Season 3 teaser...

5. Jonny Is Spiraling

From the trailer we can see pretty clearly that former Karate Kid antagonist Johnny has hit his rock bottom.

First of all, we see him in jail, and beat up as all hell (we have our thoughts as to why). Through the trailer Johnny wanders around, almost in a daze.

More than that, he doesn't look as though he's been taking care of himself. Whoever beat him up is likely not the reason that his appearance is disheveled. It doesn't look as though he's slept, shaved or probably bathed in days.

It's pretty clear he's been in a dark place since everything that happened at the end of season two. His student has been hospitalised by his own son and his mentor stole his dojo all in the span of a day.

Knowing his character, it's a good bet that he's been doing a lot of drinking since then, and seeing that he at least briefly lands himself in jail and is getting scolded by former rival and Karate Kid Daniel of all people, it's also a pretty good bet that he got drunk and did something stupid.
