5 Ways The Walking Dead Has Gone Downhill

5. Zombie-Fodder Characters

It makes it pretty hard to bond emotionally with new characters on the show when it's all too clear that a few episodes later they'll go the way of the Dale. One of the central premises of the whole Walking Dead franchise €“ including the comics and Telltale games €“ is that any character can die at any time. It can make the actions very exciting when characters snuff it. However, its not quite as interesting when we know the short-list of characters they're willing to kill off. The show's creators know all too well that there'd be riots if they were to really shake things up and kill off a fan favourite like Daryl Dixon. Instead, they introduce these minor characters they barely bother developing like poor old Axel to take to the chopping block for a cheap gasp. A different but fairly similar issue is the show's peculiar habit of killing off black characters before introducing a fairly similar replacement. We've all noticed this guys, please give it a rest. Granted, Tyrese's spot on the show seems to be fairly secure for now, but it's still odd.
