Network Fox (Later Comedy Central), Run 1999-2003, 2008-Present, Starring Billy West, Katey Segal, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, David Herman, Frank Welker. Something else from the animated department, though not to everybodys taste, is Futurama, the Matt Groening creation that also originally had a home on Fox. Set a thousand years in the future, the show focuses on a 1999 pizza delivery boy, Fry, who finds himself transported to a world inhabited by, amongst other things, an alcoholic, whore-mongering, chain-smoking gambler robot in the form of Bender, with whom he finds employment at an intergalactic delivery company. Garnering significant critical acclaim throughout its original run (arguably more than Groenings more famous creation, The Simpsons), Futurama was nevertheless cancelled (albeit not officially, executives merely opted to stop buying episodes instead) in 2003, after four seasons. Like Family Guy, however, it also found a new home on Adult Swim, which led to Comedy Central, best known for being the home of South Park, opting to produce four feature-length films to continue the franchise. These sold well, causing the channel to revive the show in its original half hour format, with two new seasons produced and aired to date.
