6 Other Breaking Bad Characters Worthy Of Their Own Spinoff

5. Mike Ehrmantraut

With a CV that lists police officer, private investigator, hitman, consigliere, enforcer, and fixer as past roles, there€™s plenty of mileage in a character like Mike Ehrmantraut. It€™s great to see Gus Fring€™s second in command playing more than a bit part in Better Call Saul as Gilligan and his created team shine the light on an earlier chapter of his life, but an existence as eventful as Mike€™s has many more stories to tell. A prequel exploring his formative years with Philadelphia law enforcement, building up to the events of harrowing Better Call Saul episode Five-O has potential, although it would be challenging to pull off since the shows would have to intersect with one another. Logistics aside, Mike€™s story almost mirrors that of Walt and Jimmy - it€™s another tale of transformation where a catalyst sparks a dramatic shift from light to dark. There's a lot of potential scope here. The story could pick up as a young Mike earns his stripes as a Philly cop - who wouldn't love to see a young version of Jonathan Banks's badass curmudgeon in action? The most significant part of Mike's transformation was highlighted in Five-O, yet he broke bad long before. We're led to believe that he spent many years as a dirty cop - was there an event that pushed him onto the wrong side of the thin blue line? A Mike prequel could serve as a damning indictment of American law enforcement, shining the spotlight on its dirty underbelly, while spanning the length of the character's timeline and running into the events of Better Call Saul.
