With one of the greatest drug-driven worlds in Television since The Wire behind it, Better Call Saul always had a fantastic base to build itself upon; however, contextually Better Call Saul adds so much to Breaking Bad's already immaculately established New Mexico drug scene.

In many ways Breaking Bad appears to have prepared show-runner, Vince Gilligan, to push on and create further TV greatness. It appears odd to consider Breaking Bad a stepping stone, as Gilligan's first effort was pretty damn good, but he has taken what he learned in the making of Breaking Bad and applied it all to Saul.

The prequel came in to existence with an audience already clamouring for more and it has taken all the best elements of what came before and pushed them on further. Beloved characters are given more context, links are made more apparent - everything that Better Call Saul does, not only adds to its own greatness, but also inflates the sense of reverence that its counterpart is so rightly remembered with.

It is a calculated and intentional link to one of the greatest TV shows of all time and it never stops feeling like an integral part of that history.
