An extension of a world we were all already in love with becomes richer and more vibrant with each passing episode. Again, it seems strange to refer to Breaking Bad as a set-up show, but as it has done all the leg work in setting up this world, the rules of it, the intrigues of it; it allows Better Call Saul to flourish in all other departments of Gilligan's well-known ability for world building.

The nuances and intricasies of the world swirling around our characters are allowed to take centre stage as part of an already established and engaging setting. It makes it feel as if we are a part of the world, that we've been allowed into the seediest parts of its underbelly or the highest reaches of its legal spheres. Seeing characters living with these spaces just adds to the characters themselves and makes every part of it feel more real, more full.

Breaking Bad built for us a world that we never wanted to leave us and, mercifully, Better Call Saul has come into our lives and brought us more of what we were craving.
