The tale of an American Football Coach who is recruited to manage a fictional soccer team called Richmond in the English Premier League, in spite of the fact that he knows absolutely nothing about the sport, is at its worst, funny, and at its best, downright inspiring.

6. It Isn't Just A Clichéd Underdog Story

We probably have Rocky to blame for the cinematic underdog story and Hollywood has been obsessed with it ever since. What most tend to forget, however, is that Rocky lost that fight.

Well, Ted Lasso is certainly a series about the underdog, however, it trades in the clichés for self-aware irony, the predictable story for a journey of self-discovery and redemption. Whilst some of the threads of the story are easy to see coming, they are played out in a way that doesn't feel recycled or lazy.

With season 2 on the way, we hope that Ted and Richmond can keep giving us a fresh spin on old ideas, whilst retaining the sense and feel that made the first season so great.
